Concise Guide to the Fibonacci Betting System

The Fibonacci Betting System is based on a significant series of numbers found in ancient Hindu mathematical texts. This sequence of numbers receives its name from the Italian mathematician who brought the Hindu-Arabic numerical system to Europe, Leonardo Pisano Bigollo, aka Fibonacci.

Fibonacci was a great observer of nature and the numerical laws he found therein. The Fibonacci sequence was actually taken from antiquity and modernized as it correlated with observable laws. The sequence follows a pattern where each new number is equal to the sum of the two previous numbers.

It was the reproductive habits of rabbits that demonstrated this sequence to Fibonacci. It goes like this 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, and so on. This is as close to magic as it gets and this essential sequence is used in important ratios found in nature, architecture, binary settings and as you will soon see, an important betting system.

The Fibonacci Betting System

This system is commonly used in Roulette, Blackjack and Craps. It is most effective with games that have an even payout, in other words, those that have a 50/50 chance of winning.

The Fibonacci betting system allows this special sequence to dictate the betting units. Each unit will be the amount you wager on each hand or play. You will decide which betting unit is best for you and your situation depending on the size of your bankroll. This could be any amount, but for the sake of simplicity we’ll say $10 is one betting unit. Five betting units would be $50.

The principle behind this system is that each bet that is lost can be recouped by betting the lost amount on the next bet. The player will cover consecutive losses by skillfully moving up or down the sequence.

Let’s take an example to show how this bet would work in a real setting. This same thing can apply for Roulette, Craps or Blackjack. The Fibonacci system begins with the number 1, so your first bet will always be 1 betting unit or $10 as per our example. Every time you win a bet you return to this primary betting unit.

If you lose a bet, you will begin to move up the Fibonacci sequence until you have won and recouped all your lost cash. Let’s assume the after the first betting unit the player loses. His using the Fibonacci sequence, we will add the sum of our last two bets and wager this amount. Since we bet $10 on the last bet and another $10 on this second bet our sum will be $20.

If after this second bet the player wins, they have recouped their cash and no worse for the wear. If they lose again they will continue to raise their bet by adding the sum of the two last bets they lost. After 2 betting units, there will be 3 than 5 and so on until the player has won.

Every time the player wins they return to the first step in the sequence and the $10 bet. As you can see the genius behind this system is that you will recover losses and break even over time. With experience and skill this is one of the best ways to beat the house edge.
